Antique Chinese Gilded Jewelry Box, Qing Dynasty. 19th C Gilded Miniature Cabinet six draws.
Stunning pierced carved lotus leaves on each front draw panel. Panels have mirror backing, some mirrors are broken and one wood panel for the backing is missing. Natural aged patina in the wood noting discoloration and knicks, chips and natural bend to the top of the cabinet. As seen in the pictures bottom of cabinet shows layers of previous damage repair, tar being used is one of them.Cabinet has warping on bottom left leg most likely from the old repair drying. Cabinet is a solid structure, can be used today.
Needs slight restoration but has been gently cleaned for you. The side panels of the cabinet are bordered with black lacquer and have mythological Kylin on each side. Kylin are Chinese Unicorns which bring peace. The bottom front apron is a pierced carving of two dragons facing each other with a "Pearl of Wisdom" centered.
Side bottom aprons have two cranes facing each other. The jewelry box sits on four solid carved wood feet, previous repairs noted in pictures. Structure is solid, looks are deceiving.
Age of the cabinet can also be noted in the joining of the draws and back panel. Only 12 pictures are allowed here for advertising.
