FINELY HAND CARVED ANTIQUE 19thC CHINESE QING CINNABAR LACQUER JEWELLERY BOX. Likely originally used for storing cigarettes or gaming counters. Is hand carved in dark red lacquer on a brass body.
The lid depicts a scene of various figures in a rock garden landscape , the sides with intricate scrollwork and lotus flowers all set against a black ground. The lid opens to reveal two compartments featuring brass mounts and hinge, lined in turquoise enamel, also seen to the base. The box stands on four brass ball feet. Cm or 6 1/2 inches. Cm or 4 1/2 inches.
