Chinese Jewelry Box, Enamel Cloisonné and Red and Black Lacquer Cinnabar, VTG
Chinese export enamel, red and black cinnabar box of rectangular form with exquisite hand carved floral reliefs. Panels are made from black cinnabar set on a red background. Stamped "China" on the base. The structure of the box is made from metal and is adorned in colorful, rainbow enamel floral motifs - also known as cloisonne. The interior lid has a hand painted gold and red flower at the center.
Lid is secured to the base with two (2) hinges. Underside has four (4) nodules or feet that elevate the box by about 0.25. Dimensions :: Length: 3.5" Width: 3" Depth: 1.75 The combination of materials used to create this miniature trunk is uncommon, therefore it is a rare item.
Condition: Overall, in great vintage condition. Lots of detail and all parts are operational. Hairline crack on the top of the lid -- bottom black bar that boarders the carved flower cinnabar.
