Antique Chinese Rosewood Carved Jade Brass Jewelry Box. Early 20th century white jade panel jewelry cabinet with brass corner panels. All jade panels are carved delicately with designs of flowers or plants. The box has rosewood dovetailed construction with engraved butterfly-form brass fittings & leaf style door pulls. There are 5 draws in total, the other draws are inside as you open the doors, inside all the draws are inlaid with bright designed blue silk cloth, the handles of the draws are of brass.
Designed as a miniature Chinese cabinet with hinged doors opening to reveal 4 blue silk-lined drawers and a larger drawer at the bottom with secret lower compartment. There is a brass lock (see 1st picture) that is included but it is missing a small brass bar to make it complete.
It wouldn't be difficult to make shift a replacement. A very nice example of Chinese Jewelry storage boxes featuring layers of decorative and symbolic elements. The jade panels alone are valuable in themselves.
