Antique Vintage Wooden Asian Chinese Japanese Jewelry Chest Box w/Locks. I will start by saying I know nothing about this piece or how old it is. There was some paperwork in the one drawer (photo 1) which I will notate below what was on the handwritten notes. As for condition I can tell you it's made from wood with a slightly raised textured floral design around the entire piece except the bottom. There are some spots where that colored textured has come off and you can see the light colored wood underneath photo 1, 6 (this is the top of the box) and photo 9 you can see a close up of it next to the lock.

The door on the front opens to 2 smaller drawers on the inside (photo 2). As for the hardware there is much ornate little design to all of it except the handles (photo 9 & 10).

They look to be attached with little metal nails. I believe the box might be held together with small wooden pegs.

Photo 12 shows the inside where the handles are attached. There is a black mark marking on the bottom (photo 7) which is also one the backside of each of the drawers. It looks like a 2V. Box measures 10" tall x 11 7/8" long x 7 wide. Weighs 5 pounds 2 ounces (prior to packaging). As for the 3 items we found in the box. #1 paper note written in pencil: I put a coat of black enamel one exposed edges. It was too glossy and didn't look right so I rubbed it down to give a dull finish.

I don't thick it can be unprond sp?? I found that steel wool seemed to get best finish on the metal which is brass or copper with some kind of plate could be silver. #2 Another small piece of paper with a tiny key attached. The note is dated 4-27-72. Reads: "Use care with door lock, it's fragile but quite strong enuf if not forced".

On the other side of the note show a small diagram of how to lock & unlock it. I tried using the key on both locks but could not get it to work. #3 A small clear plastic bag with 3 tiny wooden pegs and 1 very tiny little metal?

The note says original wood pegs and square cut brads of brass-handmade? Again this is piece is certainly not an area we are familiar or knowledgeable on but if anyone has any information they feel would be helpful in identifying it we would love to hear from you.
